The photos which were taken over and under Hagia Sophia during the filming of “Beneath The Hagia Sophia” documentary movie, has been started to be exhibited in Galata, Pepo Art Café. The exhibition which is started on 2nd of March 2013, is facing to an intense interest. In the exhibition, there are photos of not only the underground but from the inside and outside of Haghia Sophia and some snapshots of the team while working about the project.
The most part of the photographs about the upper ground parts of Hagia Sophia belongs to Director Of Photography Ercüment Atak. In the exhibition, there are also photographs of Mehmet Cevizli, Ozan Çokdeğer and Cumhur Gülensoy. And underground photographs belong to Göksel Gülensoy.
While the exhibition makes a big hole in the world of curiosity about the underground of Hagia Sophia, it unrolls some difficulties and obstacles which have been faced to during the discovery journeys. Water filled parts, hardly passed sections, very narrow well entrances which do not allow diving with tubes etc.
The exhibition which includes the photographs that have been taken in corridors, wells and cisterns beneath the Hagia Sophia for the first time in the world, can be visited during 4 weeks till the end of March, 2013.
